Michelle’s commitment to justice is rooted in both personal experience and a lifetime of service. Having overcome childhood abuse and adversity, she learned at an early age the importance of accountability, resilience, and the critical role that public institutions play in protecting individuals and families. Those experiences inspired her to pursue a career devoted to serving others and strengthening the systems upon which communities depend.

Michelle began her public safety career as a 911 Police and Fire Dispatcher, serving from 1986 to 1994. During those eight years, she was the first point of contact for people experiencing the worst moments of their lives. She learned the importance of remaining calm under pressure, making sound decisions with limited information, and understanding that every call represented a person in need of help.

After graduating from the University of San Diego School of Law, Michelle joined the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office in 1997. Over the next 26 years, she rose through the ranks to become Assistant District Attorney.  As a seasoned trial attorney, Michelle handled some of Riverside County’s most serious and complex cases, developing an expertise in child abuse and homicide crimes. Throughout her career, she reviewed and evaluated thousands of criminal cases exercising careful judgment at every stage of the legal process and successfully took more than 100 jury trials to verdict. Michelle’s work earned her recognition as California’s “Prosecutor of the Year” and established her reputation as a thoroughly prepared, highly skilled, and respected trial attorney.  Riverside County judges have worked alongside Michelle throughout her career and have witnessed firsthand her preparation, professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the law.  Their endorsements reflect decades of experience observing her judgment, temperament, and conduct both in and out of the courtroom. 

In 2023, Michelle was selected to serve as the Assistant County Executive Officer (ACEO) overseeing Riverside County’s Public Safety Portfolio. During her three-year commitment to this assignment, Michelle provided executive oversight and coordination for critical county departments and justice partners, including the Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, Probation Department, CAL-Fire & County Fire Departments, and Emergency Management Department. She worked collaboratively with county leadership, public safety agencies, and the Superior Court to address complex operational, policy, and funding issues affecting public safety and the administration of justice.  This experience provided Michelle with a broader understanding of how public institutions work together to serve the community and how thoughtful leadership can improve efficiency, accountability, and access to justice.  In 2026, after successfully completing her commitment as the ACEO, Michelle returned to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and resumed her title as Assistant District Attorney.  

Across every role she has held — dispatcher, prosecutor, executive leader, and community volunteer—Michelle has remained guided by the same principles: integrity, fairness, accountability, and respect for the rule of law. 

She understands that judges make life-altering decisions. Those decisions must never be based on politics, personal opinions, or preconceived notions. They must be grounded in the facts, the law, and a commitment to treating every person who enters the courtroom with dignity and respect.
